A Friendly Talk: Walking in God's Principles Part One — The Foundation Chapter 4: Faith

Now that we've arrived at the bridge of Jesus Christ, we're ready to take the next step by walking in faith.
Before we could walk by faith, we first surrendered our own understanding to God's understanding. Then we learned to trust Him. Trust led us to believe Him. Through that trust and belief, we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior with our own words and an honest heart.
Now comes the third step:
Faith.
But how often do we actually rely on faith? Probably not as often as we'd like to admit. Most of the time, we lean on what we can see, what we can feel, or what we think we can control.
Even right now, as I'm writing these words, I'm asking God—by faith—to give me a word of encouragement for the person reading this. A seed that He can grow in His perfect time.
But we also have a part to play. As we continue reading His Word, praying, listening, and surrendering our hearts to Him, that seed is nourished. God is the One who gives the growth, and as we walk with Him, our faith continues to grow stronger.
So how do we approach Someone we can't see with our eyes, can't fully understand, and can't control?
We approach Him with trust and belief, because trust grows into belief, and belief grows into faith.
As Hebrews tells us: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
The Bible is filled with men and women who walked by faith. Yet if we're honest, we've all experienced faith ourselves.
Think back to when you were a child. When the school bell rang, we walked to the pickup area and waited for our parents. We didn't see them. We didn't know exactly when they'd arrive. Sometimes they were early. Sometimes they were late. But we waited.
Why?
Because we knew them. We talked with them every day. We heard their voices. We trusted their love. Even when a little doubt tried to creep in because they were running late, that doubt never became greater than our relationship with them.
That's the kind of faith God invites us into.
Childlike faith.
Do you remember your very first day of school? Some of us cried. Some of us put on an Olympic‑level performance that probably deserved a gold medal. Our parents walked away with mixed emotions, hoping we'd be okay.
But little by little… Day by day… Week by week… School became familiar.
Before long, we were running back to our parents with stories, smiles, laughter, and excitement, ready to tell them everything that happened. And they welcomed us with open arms. That's a beautiful picture of our relationship with God.
Romans 10:17 (NKJV): “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Faith doesn't grow by accident. It grows as we continue reading God's Word, praying, praising, listening, and walking in obedience. God reminds us that faith comes by hearing His Word. The more we make room for His Word in our lives, the more our faith has room to grow.
We should let God into every part of our lives—not just the big moments, but the quiet places inside us too. Our thoughts, our motives, our little daily choices… all of that is where we spend most of our day.
So when we choose to focus on Him in those places, we're actually spending the whole day with Him. It turns our normal routine into a real, personal relationship—not something distant, not something we only do on Sundays, but something alive within our minds, our hearts, and our spirits. It becomes a place of closeness with God, where our hearts willingly surrender to His presence, His love, and His will.
Let Him in completely—even into the thoughts no one else sees. Remember, our minds are always running, so they're the perfect place to meet with God. Let our thoughts become a quiet conversation with Him, turning faith into a daily friendship rather than simply a routine.
We'll spend all day close to God. We can walk with Him right where we are—in our thoughts, in our routines, and in the middle of our everyday lives. We strive for obedience, not perfection, for only Jesus is perfect. But we do come with an honest heart.
That’s how faith becomes real. That’s how we live with Him, moment by moment.
We begin to know Him—not just know about Him. We discover that there is no one who loves us more than God. Even when we can't see Him… even when we don't understand what He's doing… even when life doesn't make sense… He is there. Right beside us. Through every storm. Every trial. Every obstacle.
Faith becomes our peace. Faith becomes our strength. Faith becomes the lens through which God changes our vision.
We no longer see life only through our circumstances—we begin to see it through His promises. We don't just hope for His blessings. We begin to recognize His faithfulness unfolding before us.
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV): “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
His mercy. His compassion. His love. They never leave us.
And faith isn't only for difficult days.
James 1:17 (NKJV): “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights…”
God also gives us faith to enjoy His blessings, celebrate His goodness, and walk with joy through everyday life.
A beautiful thing begins to happen. Our hearts begin to change. We begin to hunger and thirst for more of Him. Faith becomes part of who we are—not just something we talk about. We begin inviting God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit into every part of our lives.
The more we know Him, the more joy fills our hearts.
It becomes a joy we can't keep to ourselves. A joy that naturally makes us want to tell someone else about His goodness.
The more we walk in faith, the more we know God, and the less this world becomes our focus.
Together, let's ask God for more of Him.
More wisdom. More strength. More surrender. More obedience. More of His divine understanding. More of His heart. More of Him… Less of us.
As I write these words, tears are literally welling up in my eyes. We begin to truly recognize His blessings, and I have to tell you— It is the most beautiful, exhilarating, and absolutely amazing experience imaginable.. Seeing His hand in our lives is the ultimate, undeniable reflection of His existence.
We should keep this in our hearts:
Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV): “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
How beautiful and awesome is that—an undeserved gift from God. This gift flows directly from the very essence of who He is. God does not just show love; He is love. It is His very nature—unconditional love, overflowing with mercy, compassion, and forgiveness.
Because He is love, His affection pours out onto everyone, holding back from no one.
It simply does not matter who you are. Your current position in life, your beliefs, your past actions, your gender, or your status do not change His heart toward you. We cannot earn this kind of love, nor do we need to. It is a completely free gift, given simply because He loves us.
Through faith, we accept this gift and draw closer to Him. The nearer we get to His light, the further away we move from the reach of the enemy.
In the simplest words: You are completely loved, deeply cherished, and securely held in His grace.
Now, picture this with a bright smile of joy:
Remember asking your parents for that Hot Wheels car or that Barbie?
Day after day… “Can I have it now?” “How about today?” “Please?”
Sometimes they smiled and said, “Maybe later.” Sometimes they said, “Not yet.” And sometimes—even when we didn’t deserve it—they surprised us simply because they loved us.
Our heavenly Father loves us even more.
But because He sees what we cannot, He gives us what is best according to His perfect wisdom and timing.
And honestly… Thank God for that.
Because if He gave us everything we ever asked for, half of us would probably have a pet tiger, a mansion shaped like a donut, and enough Hot Cheetos to last a lifetime. The other half would be asking God to help us figure out what we were thinking. 😄
Faith isn't believing that God will always do what we want. Faith is believing that God will always do what is best—because He loves us more than we know.
So let's keep walking with Him. Let's keep talking with Him. And certainly let's keep growing in faith in Him... One prayer... One step... One day at a time. You know, I bet that with every step we take toward God, we'll discover that He has been walking beside us all along.
Final Thoughts
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
We usually read this verse as guidance for how we’re supposed to live in a relationship with God. But what really grabs my heart is this: if it’s possible to please God, then it’s also possible to grieve Him. And because God is love, He feels joy and sorrow far deeper than we ever could.
So when we grieve His heart, we shouldn’t fall into despair. Instead, let that truth pull us in the opposite direction. Let it move us to bring Him joy and love. And let's never forget—we were created in His image.
We’ll never fully understand God’s infinite mind on this side of eternity. But when we live surrendered—loyal, faithful, and trusting—we begin to reflect His heart. To please Him, we must believe. Not just believe that He exists, but let us live a life of faith through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God… knowing who He truly is.
And He promises us something beautiful:
He rewards those who seek Him.
But this reward isn't only about money or material things, and honestly, those things are temporary.
The real reward of seeking God... is God Himself.
He blesses us with His strength.
His presence.
His comfort.
His peace.
His wisdom.
His rest.
And above all, He surrounds us with His perfect love, holding us close as His beloved children.
And no matter how many times it takes—yes, again and again—we get up.
We look up.
We pray.
We keep moving forward...
One step...
One principle...
One day at a time.
Not chasing perfection, but bringing an honest heart that loves God's truth.
God's desire is to help us and to hear from us.
The closer we walk with Him, the further we stand from the enemy.
Take a breath.
Take a step.
And trust that God's got the rest.
And remember—God doesn't just guide us with wisdom and purpose; He also blesses us with moments of joy, laughter, and peace along the journey.
