The study of God's Principles (Surrendering our understanding)

Updated: Nov 10, 2025

So, let's be real for a second—everything around us is made by someone, right? I mean, even your favorite coffee mug probably has a backstory involving a very dedicated potter or a very caffeinated factory worker. So why wouldn’t the universe have its own creator? It’s like saying that a masterpiece painting just appeared out of thin air. We’re all designed with a purpose. You could say we’re like a reflection of our Creator—just with an uncertain direction, which can be navigated by seeking our creator. So hey, at least we’re here to ponder our existence over a cup of coffee, right?... and not giving up searching for the truth of our Holy God.

What is Spiritual Understanding?

Spiritual understanding means grasping God’s truth beyond human reasoning—it helps believers discern right from wrong and live in alignment with God’s will. Think of it as divine GPS, guiding you through the twists and turns of life, even when you can’t find a signal! In short, spiritual understanding is the Spirit-given ability to see life through God’s eyes—connecting knowledge of His Word with the wisdom to live it out. In this way, spiritual understanding acts as a bridge. As believers nurture this understanding with His Word, they often find themselves more receptive to the gentle reminders and guidance of the Holy Spirit, leading them to make decisions that reflect God’s character and purpose. Basically, getting a grip on spirituality is all about balancing what you know with how you live it out. It’s about not just learning the truths in Scripture but actually putting them into practice. This means really seeking God, diving into His Word, and being open to how the Holy Spirit can change us.. Embarking on this spiritual growth journey is like signing up for a never-ending marathon—you’re in it for the long haul! It demands dedication, a lot of praying (think of it as your spiritual workout), and being open to getting a makeover by God’s truth. The ultimate goal? To live a life that gives God a standing ovation and spreads His love like confetti!

Surrendering our understanding

Letting go of what we think we know and tuning into God's wisdom is a pretty deep spiritual journey. It's like trading our limited views for a more divine outlook. This isn't just about thinking differently; it's about seriously committing to align our thoughts, beliefs, and actions with God's truth. The first step is recognizing that our views are often shaped by personal experiences, and opening up to God's bigger wisdom.

Faith, belief, and trust are key in this journey. Faith sets the foundation for our relationship with God, helping us trust in His goodness and control, even when things get tough. Belief means accepting God's Word as true and reliable, and diving into Scripture to shape how we see the world. Trust is where faith and belief turn into action—letting go of fears and acknowledging God's greater understanding.

God's Word is central to this process, giving us insight into His character and promises. By diving into Scripture, we can challenge our misconceptions and align our understanding with divine truth, which helps us grow spiritually and deepen our relationship with God.

This journey lasts a lifetime and requires intentional effort and humility. By building faith, belief, and trust, and keeping God's Word at the forefront, we can navigate life with clarity and purpose, leading to a meaningful existence rooted in divine truth.

And remember, if at first you don't succeed in aligning your thoughts with God's truth, just know that even Moses took 40 years to find his way to the Promised Land! So, take a deep breath, keep the faith, and maybe pack some snacks for the journey!

Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Final Thoughts

Truly, honestly if you want to KNOW GOD not KNOW OF GOD live by these two verses.

Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Love: The highest virtue, reflecting God’s very nature (1 John 4:8).

Just as a cake certainly has someone who baked it, we also have a creator 😊 who brings us the blessings of joy, laughter and more!

😉Why did the baker pray before baking?

Because he knew only God can truly make things rise, Lol...
